1. Does IIL have a certificate program for Business Analysts?
Yes. IIL’s Business Analysis Certificate Program (BACP) is a comprehensive 10-day program that consists of four courses covering the core competencies required by most employers of Business Analysts (BA).

2. Who is eligible to take the BACP?
Anyone who defines and manages requirements through the development cycle, elicits information from stakeholders to define requirements, solves business problems, defines business problems or analyzes business processes. Business analysts, project managers, operations managers, systems analysts, quality assurance analysts or marketing associates can all benefit from this program.

3. Which courses comprise IIL’s BACP?
The following required courses for the BACP and can be taken in any order however, it is suggested that they are taken in the order as specified below.
Business Analysis Fundamentals
2 days (classroom) or four 3-hour sessions (IIL Virtual Classroom)
Facilitation Skills for Business Analysts
3 days (classroom) or six 3-hour sessions (IIL Virtual Classroom)
Writing and Managing Requirements Documents
2 days (classroom) or four 3-hour sessions (IIL Virtual Classroom)
Business Process Modeling

4. Are there additional courses offered by IIL that are targeted specifically for Business Analysts?
Yes. The courses listed below are also included in the IIL Business Analysis curriculum.
Assuring Quality Through Acceptance Testing

Developing the Business Case

5. Does IIL offer other courses that are suitable for Business Analysts?
Yes. There may also be courses in IIL’s Project Management curriculum that would be of interest for BAs who are looking to increase their knowledge in risk management, negotiation, communication, and presentation skills. Six Sigma training will help any BA who is tasked with quality and process optimization. IIL’s Organization and People Change Management course will help any Business Analyst with the challenges of users’ resistance to change.

6. Can I take the Business Analysis courses online?
Yes. All of the Business Analysis courses are offered online via IIL Virtual Classroom. The IIL Virtual Classroom classes are led by live instructors so you get the benefits of a classroom situation in your office. The classes have a good balance of lectures, discussion and individual exercises.

8. What is the cost for IIL’s other BA courses?

- $1,495 per person for any two day course
- $1,795 per person for any three day course
IIL Virtual Classroom: |
- $850 per person for any 12 hour (4 3-hour sessions) courses
- $1,150 per person for any 18 hour (6 3-hour sessions) courses

9. Are there exams for each course in the BACP?
Yes. Once you have completed each course, you will receive instructions via email to take an online exam. Upon notification you have four weeks to take the examination. You must achieve at lease 70% on the exam for a passing grade.

10. What happens if I fail a BACP course exam?
If you fail an exam, call +1-417-236-0992 or email onlineexaminations@iil.com to schedule a retake. There is a $95.00 fee to retake an exam.

| 11. How many CEU Credits and PDU credits will be received for BA courses? |
- Two-day public classroom / onsite courses receive 1.4 CEU credits / 14 PDU credits
- Three-day public classroom / onsite courses receive 2.1 CEU credits / 21 PDU credits
- Two-day IIL Virtual Classroom courses (four three hour sessions) receive 1.2 CEU credits
- Three-day IIL Virtual Classroom courses (six three hour sessions) receive 1.8 CEU credits / 18 PDU credits
- You will earn 7.0 CEU credits or 70 PDU credits for the classroom BACP. You will earn 60 PDUs or 6.0 CEUs for the IIL Virtual Classroom BACP.

12. When have I completed the BACP?
When you have successfully completed the four required courses and achieved at least a 70% score on each of the post-course multiple choice online exams (a 30 question multiple-choice exam for our 2-day courses; a 45 question multiple-choice exam for our 3-day courses).
Upon completion of the BACP, you will receive a framed Certificate of Completion signed by E. LaVerne Johnson, IIL’s CEO and President.

13. What happens if I cannot attend a class or complete the class once I start?
You can contact your educational consultant directly or you can call +1-800-325-1533 (US) or +1-212-758-0177. They will set up for an archived session or reschedule you in another up-coming classroom session.

14. Is it possible to see the questions that I have missed on the exam?
No, we do not provide participants their completed exams to review.

15. Is there a BACP final exam?
No, exams are given after each course.

16. Do I have to attend each session of a class before I can take the exam?
Yes. You must attend every session of a class before being eligible for CEUs or gaining access to the exam.

17. Can any of the BACP required courses be waived?
A course will be waived if a required course in the IIL BACP program has already been taken before registering for the BACP.

18. How long do I have to complete the BACP?
The BACP can be completed between 3 and 12 months.

19. Who are the trainers?
All of our trainers have at least 10 years of Business Analysis experience and as much as 30 years. Their experience includes work with fortune 500 companies. Their teaching experience is extensive with a minimum of five years of classroom instruction.

20. Is there a BA equivalent to the Project Management Institute’s Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK)?
Yes. The International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) has developed a Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK™) The Body of Knowledge represents the unique knowledge necessary for someone to be a successful business analyst. It sets an industry standard for practice and knowledge, and is maintained by BA practitioners with input from other stakeholders. The BABOK™ will form the basis of IIBA’s accreditation program. 21. How is the BABOK™ structured?
The BABOK™ describes Business Analysis areas of knowledge, their associated activities and tasks and the skills necessary to be effective in their execution. It is composed of six knowledge areas (KAs) plus underlying fundamentals.

22. Do we provide the BABOK™ with the course materials?
No. Clients can download the BABOK™ directly from the IIBA website at www.theiiba.org. The latest version (ver 1.6) is currently in draft form and was posted on the IIBA website in July.

23. Is IIL’s BA certificate program the same as IIBA’s?
No. IIL’s BA certificate program is comprised of four courses with exams. Like PMI’s certification program for project managers, the IIBA’s certification for business analysts includes specific experience requirements, professional references, and successfully passing a comprehensive exam based on the IIBA’s Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK™). Once these requirements are met with IIBA, an individual will become a Certified Business Analyst Profession (CBAP™).

24. Is there a BA equivalent to the PMP?
Yes. To be eligible for IIBA Certification, the candidate must meet specific experience requirements, submit professional references, and agree to adhere to the IIBA Certified Business Analysis Professional Code of Conduct and Ethics. Additionally, the candidate must pass a comprehensive final examination based on the IIBA Business Analysis Body of Knowledge which is designed to objectively assess and measure your Business Analysis knowledge. After the candidate passes the exam and gains certification, he/she may use the designation of Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP©).

25. How do I qualify for the IIBA Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP™) designation?
Each candidate must meet the following requirements to be eligible to write the CBAP™ exam: |
- Five years (7500 hours) of business analysis work experience in the last 10 years
- The experience must be related to the knowledge areas as defined in the BA Body of Knowledge
- Experience in four out of the six knowledge areas
- Minimum high school education
- Two references
- 21 hours of professional development in the last four years and the content must be directly related to business analysis or the underlying fundamentals
