Job Title:
General Manager/Business Development
Department: Executive Sales and Management
Reports To: President and CEO
Location:  London, UK

Summary: International Institute for Learning (IIL) (www.iil.com), present in 18 countries, is a global leader in training and consulting in the areas of:

  • Microsoft Office Project 2007

For our rapidly growing office in London, IIL is seeking a results-oriented, energetic Sales & Business Development professional to sell our products and services and lead a team of sales representatives.

Specifically, responsibilities would include, but are not limited to:
  • Representing only IIL in the marketplace by dedicating all professional efforts to the growth of IIL Europe while supporting IIL around the world through:
    • New business development
    • Collaboration and teamwork with the Managers of other IIL offices as well as with Headquarters in New York
    • Sales and sales leadership
    • Operational guidance to staff
    • HR functions related to recruitment, selection and training of staff
    • Conduct of sales-related conference calls
    • RFP response development
    • Face-to-face sales calls and presentations
    • Assessment of required instructional design and engineering of a solution
    • Cost control of office and sales operations
    • Compliance with local and national laws
    • Optimization of utilization of IIL’s corporate resources to develop IIL Europe’s sales and markets
    • Representation of IIL at professional meetings and congresses
  • Delegation of sales opportunities to sales staff
  • Monitors and evaluates the activities and products of the competition.
  • Prepares periodic sales report showing sales volume, potential sales, and potential sales.
  • Meets with key clients; assisting sales representatives with maintaining relationships, negotiating and closing deals.
  • Being responsible and accountable for the overall performance (sales and profits) for IIL Europe.

Leadership Responsibilities
Directly supervises a small team of sales people. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include initially interviewing, training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Initiative - Takes independent actions and calculated risks; Looks for and takes advantage of opportunities; Asks for and offers help when needed.
  • Innovation - Displays original thinking and creativity; Meets challenges with resourcefulness; Generates suggestions for improving work; Develops innovative approaches and ideas; Presents ideas and information in a manner that gets others' attention.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Candidate should have understanding of a variety of learning approaches and technologies and must live in or close to London.

Education and/or Experience:
University Degree of 5 or more years; or eight years’ sales experience with at least five years in sales management or equivalent combination of education and experience.  PM Certification (e.g. PMP) is a plus as well as experience in the training and/or consulting industries.

Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to speak a second or third language is a plus.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Salary
£47,600.00 GBP Base salary plus annual bonus based on company performance.
