Foundation and Practitioner
UKAS/OGC/APMG Accredited Training Company Event

Overview
The UK Government PRINCE2 method is internationally accepted as the leading “best practice” project management approach and is gaining momentum within local government and the private sector, as well as being the recognised standard for central government and the NHS. Leading private sector companies have also introduced PRINCE worldwide.

The APM Group approval is made against standards more rigorous than those applied to our competitors, reflecting that this course is licensed worldwide and used by a number of other Accredited Training Organisations and affiliates.

Designed For
This accredited course is suitable for any organisation or individual seeing the need for a controlled approach to managing its projects.

The event is suitable for project managers, project support, team members and managers from any discipline.

Senior managers will also benefit from understanding how decision-support information is created and passed to appropriate managers.

The PRINCE2 method is flexible and adaptable for any type and size of project, and offers an excellent management foundation for any member of staff; no prior experience is necessary.

Objectives
The key objectives of this course are:

  • Understand the benefits and principles underlying a structured approach to project management.
  • Apply the principles of PRINCE2 within a work environment.
  • Operate effectively with colleagues and managers within a structured project management environment.
  • Understand the PRINCE2 method at the Foundation and, where chosen, the Practitioner levels.
Approach
The course is a mixture of input and practical sessions, delivered by an APM Group approved trainer with practical experience of project management.

A Pre-event preparation pack including reading and specially written software will be sent to everyone attending this event. The course is built around the latest APM Group syllabus and features an interesting case study to illustrate the PRINCE2 method and help delegates understand its concepts. Delegates will need to spend approximately 20 hours studying this material in order to be fully prepared for the course.

Delegates studying to Practitioner level will benefit from the consolidation and Practitioner exam preparation day on Thursday, which enables exam candidates to review parts of the Method with the Event Manager and practice written answers. IIL’s flexible approach to the management of the course means that delegates can attend the Foundation event only and return at a later date to complete the Practitioner Exam.
