The LEGO Approach to Innovation

LEGO’s innovation system is regarded as one of the greatest in the world

Given their current success, it’s hard to imagine that LEGO almost went out of business just over a decade ago. In 2003, LEGO lost nearly $300 million through a series of disastrous innovation decisions.

How did this happen? LEGO listened to the advice of academics and experts who told them that only two kinds of innovation matter: sustaining innovation and disruptive innovation.

They discovered a new formula for innovation – a “third way” to innovate

After three years of intense experimentation, LEGO discovered that disruption was not the answer – that reinventing the future is neither cheap nor easy.

But in the wreckage of their experiments, they discovered a new formula for innovation – a “third way” to innovate that is neither incremental nor disruptive, but that has delivered the profits and growth of disruptive innovation without the risks and expense.

Learn how to apply this innovation approach in your own organization

This 2-day Master Class will show you this third way to innovate. This is an approach that promises lower risks and higher rewards, proven by some of the greatest turnaround stories in corporate history.

Using case examples from LEGO, Apple, Disney, Novo Nordisk, Gatorade, Salesforce.com, GoPro, CarMax, and many others, you’ll learn how to apply this approach in your company.
