Kerzner International Project Manager of the Year™ Award
Overview

Purpose
The purpose of the Kerzner International Project Manager of the Year™ Award is to recognize a project manager who has exemplified superior performance and outstanding project management methods, skills, and techniques, and their important contributions in business, industry, government community or not-for-profit environments. The award, established in 2006 by IIL, is named in honor of Dr. Harold Kerzner. He is a globally recognized expert on project management, total quality management, and strategic planning and the author of the best-selling books about project management.

Eligibility
Candidates must possess the PMI® PMP® credential or equivalent and may be associated with any industry or sector from anywhere in the world.

Process
The evaluation and selection process consists of three stages: Evaluation, Semi-Finals and Finals. At International Institute for Learning‘s (IIL’s) International Project Management Day Awards Ceremony and Reception on November 6, 2008, the winner will be presented with the Kerzner International Project Manager of the Year™ award by E. LaVerne Johnson, President and CEO of IIL, and Harold Kerzner, Ph.D.

Evaluation Process

  • Anyone may nominate any project manager by answering a series of questions relating to various aspects of the project management profession. You can choose to nominate yourself or a colleague.
Click here to fill out the Nomination Form online >

  • The completed questionnaire and an up-to-date resume must be submitted by September 12, 2008.
  • A distinguished panel of judges proficient in project management processes and techniques will review the questionnaires and resumes and choose ten semi-finalists.

Semi-Finals

  • The ten semi-finalists will be notified on or about September 22, 2008.
  • All semi-finalists will then submit one letter from their manager and one letter from a client recommending their nomination. The manager’s letter must be on company letterhead. In the event that a candidate does not have a manager (e.g., functions as an independent contractor), a letter from a colleague is acceptable.
  • These two letters must be submitted by September 29, 2008.
  • A distinguished panel of judges proficient in project management processes and techniques will review the semi-finalists’ two letters.
  • Five candidates will be chosen to progress to the final round.

Finals

  • The five finalists will be notified on, or around October 6, 2008.
  • All finalists will deliver a 10-minute PowerPoint presentation via a group e-learning presentation on or about October 15, 2008, to a distinguished panel of judges proficient in project management processes and techniques. The presentation should contain a lesson learned from a project which they were project manager and show how that lesson was turned into a best practice for either the PMO or organization as a whole.
  • The winner will be notified on or about October 22, 2008
