Microsoft Office Project and Project Server 2007 Certifications

International Institute for Learning, Inc (IIL) is pleased to announce its strategic involvement with Microsoft® in the planning and development of the Microsoft® Office Project 2007 Credential and Curriculum Program. IIL has been selected to develop the learning materials for the Microsoft® Official Curriculum designed to prepare candidates to successfully complete the certification exams.

What are the certifications?
The Microsoft® Office Project and Project Server 2007 User Certification is a professional certification program designed to support project management professionals seeking to quantify their proficiencies in the use of Microsoft® Office Project and Project Server 2007 to effectively initiate, plan, execute, monitor and control and close projects, programs and portfolios.

What are the benefits of the certifications?
This certification series provides value to both organizations and individuals practicing Project Management or desiring to advance their skills and career opportunities in this field. By validating a more comprehensive set of skills, these credentials give candidates and their hiring managers a reliable indicator of on-the-job performance. This is driven by customer demand based on the growing need for project management competencies that include practical and tool specific capabilities.

How will students prepare for the Microsoft® Office Project and Project Server 2007 certification exams?
Microsoft® has no training requirements prior to taking exams and there are no pre-requisites. One can take any exam at any time. However, training will certainly help to ensure that you will be able to pass the exams. These are competency-based exams. IIL will be one of many organizations that are creating and offering courses to enable individuals to prepare for the new Microsoft® Office Project and Project Server Certification exams.

Are credentials dependent of each other?
The two Technology Specialist certifications can be achieved independently of each other. However, both Technology Specialist certifications are required to achieve the IT Professional certification.

What is the relationship of Microsoft Credentials to the IIL Project “Belt” Courses?

  • IIL’s Project Orange Belt® 2007 prepares individuals to successfully complete the Technology Specialist: Managing Projects with Microsoft® Office Project 2007 certification.
  • IIL’s Project Blue Belt® 2007 prepares individuals for the Technology Specialist: Enterprise Project Management with Microsoft® Office Project Server 2007 certification.
  • IIL’s Project Black Belt® 2007 prepares individuals to successfully complete the IT Professional: Enterprise Project Management with Microsoft® Office Project Server 2007 certification.
