About the Presentation

Imagine a scenario where, overnight, every dentist on Earth is abducted by aliens. By the following morning, the healthcare system would begin to strain under the pressure and within a week, emergency rooms would overflow with cases of preventable infections. If footballers were taken instead, the multi-billion-dollar sports economy would collapse instantly. And if sanitation engineers disappeared, modern civilization would begin to physically break down in less than two days.

Traditionally, we define ourselves by our jobs, viewing them as singular and unchanging roles. However, the Department of Labor’s O*NET database reveals a different reality, breaking down over nine hundred occupations into thousands of distinct tasks. According to McKinsey research, in 60% of these roles, at least 30% of tasks are now technically able to be automated. The threat, therefore, is not to entire jobs, but to individual tasks within those jobs.

For the Telecom Project Manager, this transformation is already in progress. Routine efforts such as status reporting, updating risk logs, tracking schedule variance, and pursuing procurement follow-ups are increasingly handled by agentic teammates.

Key Takeaways:

  • Learn how AI is gradually transforming work by automating routine and repetitive tasks, rather than eliminating entire careers overnight.
  • For most people, a significant portion of daily tasks can already be handled by machines, signaling a shift in how we allocate our time and efforts at work.
  • Understand that your true value as a project manager lies in resolving ambiguity, building relationships, and taking responsibility, roles that technology cannot replicate.
