Customized Learning Solutions
IIL’s Solution Development Process
We see learning as a deeply complex process that encompasses many elements. And when it comes to the way we design our offerings, we aim to honor all of them. We understand that quality content is just one piece of effective learning – your workplace/personal experiences, multiple diversity factors (e.g. cultures, languages, etc.), the ways in which you connect with others, as well as real-world realities must also be embraced. We align meaningful and relevant customized learning solutions with the constant changes in the world, the evolving ways we interact, the technology we use, and critical shifts in the marketplace.
Frequent, purposeful interaction
Overview
- IIL uses a structured yet agile approach to customized learning based upon the classic ADDIE instructional design (ID) model (ADDIE = Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation)
- This approach is not a recipe, but rather a set of guidelines that we adapted in theory, to emphasize the Facilitation and Learning Transfer aspects that are inherent, but not obvious in the ADDIE model, so that our process phases include:
1.0 Assessment – Gathering performance-based requirements driving the request and recommending an appropriate mix of learning and/or non-learning solutions.
2.0 Solutions – Designing and building a learning program to meet and/or complement the performance-based requirements, including:
- Materials
- Facilitator aids
- Learning transfer strategies
- Evaluation plans
3.0 Facilitation – Delivering and supporting the learning program, including:
- Registration and ongoing operations
- Pilot delivery
- Post-pilot updates
- Production roll-out
4.0 Learning Transfer – Supporting the activities and materials that help learners apply what they learned, including:
- Reminder emails
- Feedback and coaching by a manager or mentor
- Additional learning using web-based tools,
- Additional opportunities for practice,
- Recognition for changes in behavior
5.0 Admin & Governance – Setting up the program to be ordered / delivered, and implementing the plans created earlier for gathering feedback to improve the learning solution.
