Change Management Is Lying to You (And So Am I, A Bit)

About the Presentation

Every change framework promises a clean curve from denial to commitment if you just follow the steps in order. It doesn’t work like that and anyone who’s actually run a transformation knows it.

This session is a slightly irreverent, fully honest look at what change management gets wrong, what it can’t account for, and why the messy, nonlinear, occasionally chaotic reality of leading people through change is the part nobody puts in the model.

Key Takeaways:

  • Why the textbook change curve breaks down once people and politics get involved (spolier, we only plan for the happy path).
  • What’s still worth keeping from established change frameworks.
  • Permission to stop forcing your programme to look tidy on a slide.
  • + plus a few honest questions to ask when the framework stops explaining what’s actually happening.

About Lucy Hornsby

Lucy is a facilitator, group coach, and qualified change consultant, and someone who knows firsthand what it means to really need support and find it.

After 15+ years inside some of the UK’s biggest corporate transformations, she realised what she was actually drawn to wasn’t the strategy. It was the people in the room who were silently struggling. So now she creates the space she once needed herself, close enough to understand the pressure, far enough to ask the questions no one inside can.
