Speakers

Dr. Harold Kerzner - Using Project Management as Part of Strategic Planning: Going from Traditional to Strategic Project Management Leadership
Project management has become a corporate-wide strategic competency; however, the leadership style that project managers have used in the past on "traditional" projects may not work effectively for strategic planning execution projects. This presentation will discuss the ways that project management will benefit both strategic planning and the types of projects assigned to project managers, as well as identify leadership traits for project managers of the future.

Frank Ryle - Keeping Score on Projects
We need a new approach to project management in the 21st century. Businesses are seeking a more practical approach to projects that can address the technological, political, financial, and perhaps most importantly, cultural changes that we encounter. In this presentation, three major schools of thought – a system or process-centered approach, a personality-centered approach, and an academic/theoretical approach – are evaluated in order to postulate and present a hybrid approach.

Steven Blais - The Business Analyst, Project Manager and System Analyst: Working Together to Achieve Project Success
Leading and managing a successful project of a decent length and complexity is a daunting job. This is why the successful project has a three person team to lead it: the business analyst, the system analyst or technical lead, and the project manager.  This presentation demonstrates the various roles the project manager can assign to the business analyst to help ensure a successful project, and also describes techniques for leading a project by playing both the role of business analyst and project manager successfully.

Frank P. Saladis - Positive Leadership in Project Management
The world business environment and pressures of continuous change and intense competition require every organization to attract and sustain authentic and adaptive project leaders. This presentation addresses the importance of developing and enhancing the ability to lead project teams effectively and successfully through a positive and supportive people focused approach. The challenges of leadership are discussed from a business management and project management point of view and focuses on the importance of establishing a strong and mutually beneficial connection between the project manager and the team.

Judith W. Umlas - Grateful Leadership: Using the Power of Acknowledgment to Engage All Your People and Achieve Superior Results
Grateful leaders can tap into the power of personal commitment and dedication by acknowledging people in an authentic, heartfelt manner. Those leaders who model true acknowledgment behavior will inspire others to do the same and to want to dramatically increase their levels of contribution to the organization. This presentation will motivate leaders to embrace Grateful Leadership as a means of bringing their organization and its people (including all of its stakeholders), to the highest levels of engagement, passion and commitment.

Gregory Balestrero - Emergent Leaders of Tomorrow: Trust and Its Impact on Relationships
Trust is the primary foundation of all strong relationships in life and business, and yet, trust is not the first element of establishing a strong team.  In fact, it is often overlooked completely, with the exception of stating that “trust is critical.”  Plus, trust spills over into the realm of the corporate brand and becomes an unwritten brand promise when delivering value. This presentation will provide an overview of the importance, priority, and rigor of building a bond of trust in business relationships.

Carl Belack – Secrets of Success in Complex Projects
Over the last 60-70 years, the project management profession has developed a set of recognized methods to help project managers better achieve their business goals, but many projects continue to overrun budgets and schedules at alarming rates. A significant factor contributing to these failures is the increasing complexity of project dynamics – a result of the rapid societal, environmental, and technological changes all of us are experiencing. This presentation will examine project complexity and some of it causal dynamics.
